Ok..... I get a set of rear lowering springs from Moss. Followed advice from some members here about driving the car and letting the springs "settle" for a few weeks. Well, the rear still sits too high, about an inch. Would is be wise to take a leaf off the springs to get this B to sit right? As always, thanks for any input.

Hi, Steve:
Not sure what you got from Moss but I bought a new set of rear springs from VB about 3 yrs ago. After installing them, mine sat about an inch high - and I waited and waited for them to settle - which they never did. So, about a year ago, I went to the bother of taking the lower leaf (the shortest one) on each side and moving it up to the top of the stack. It was a lot of work but this did have the desired effect of lowering my car about an inch in the rear. I figure that, eventually, I'll have to put it back like it was - but I'll cross that bridge when it comes.
Got CB lowering springs for my RB, it still sat way high after installing them. In addition, added 1.25" lowering blocks with the springs..greatly improved the stance. I can see that the springs have settles quite a bit since then. I could possibly remove the blocks now.
I would either..1) live with it, 2) install blocks like I did..remove them when the springs settle.
It will take more than a few weeks for the springs to settle

My stock Moss springs are too low... I don't think anyone has been happy with the (New) rear springs that we have been getting.....
Blake,
I got the special lowering springs for the rear and, if anything, are a touch higher than the old stock ones. A ton of work for no results!! I'm going to try that little trick Tom talks about above if it doesn't get better soon.

Try taking the second leaf(long leaf after the main) out, and reinstall. Not that much of a problem. I did that and it dropped the rear about 1 - 1 1/2". A few years from now when the rear start to sag, reinstall that other leaf.
I put stock Moss springs in my '73 CB 2 weeks ago because it had "sagged". Right after the job was done the car sat level (14.5" mid-hub to lower chrome moulding). But I would be careful and consider all options because any settling will put it back to where it was... sagged. I had no prior help or advice about springs so I just went with the stock CB leafs.
P.M.
Springs are one of the things that I will not guarentee. Period. They seem to be too high or too low. Goldilocks syndrome with no just right.
I removed a 18" leaf from my 7 leafs RB springs.
Dropped the rear about an inch an a half.
WE checked on a stock CB car and that seemed to be the leaf that the 6leaf setup didnt have.
I have smaller than factory tires so the rear tires dont quite tuck intothe wheel wells.
but i liek the ride.
Tom, any reason for reinstalling the short leaf back up top after you removed it from the bottom? I would think you would get the desired results with just removing the leaf all together....
Don:
The main reason was that I wasn't sure the U bolts had enough extra threads to accomodate the missing leaf. I think I was guessing that getting the lower leaf out from the bottom of the stack would change the curvature slightly - and I think I guessed right. But I still wanted to maintain the same spring sandwich thickness (number of leaves) - that's why I stuck the bottom one back on top.
Thanks for all the input!! Measured the spacing and have 13-13 1/4" (chrome strip to hub center) in the front and 17-17 1/4" in the rear. Going to give Lloyd's idea a shot. Again thanks!!
Steve
