After the restoration, I took my car to a local MG mechanic to look over, make sure I didn't miss or do anything critical, set the valves, timing and carbs etc. etc. One of the things that he called me about is the passenger side rebound strap which is (was) new, the rubber has split and the only thing holding it is the reinforcing threads. Anyone seen this in new straps and any idea why it would fail so quickly? This was noticed while the car was up on a 2 post lift and the suspension was unsupported.
The car is a 69 B with the rear tube shock conversion.
thanks

The new, replacement straps do this pretty much all the time. They're crap.
Contact Rusty (BrokenHeartStudio - http://www.mgexperience.net/member/brokenheartstudio) on this board. He sells very nice nylon straps for a good price.
