Hi all, just spend another evening in the garage, refitting all stuff after the repaint.

Tonight (as was the last evening I spent there) was front bumper refitting time and where I thought it would be an easy job, it turned out to be one of the most difficult ones.

I took the bumper apart and cleaned and painted all brackets and the backside of the bumpers with Hammerite. Then I cleaned or renewed all bolts and rings. When I tried to refit the bumper, including the spotlightbar (that was there before), I was not able to get the bumper up high enough to fit all four bolts that connect the bumper brackets to the chassis. Took everything apart again and switched brackets. Nothing! Switched overriders. Again nothing. Despite a lot of efforts and a lot of cussing, I was not able to get the bumper back on properly.

My best guess is that since the fenders have been taken of and work was done to the bottom of the engine bay (the front where the grill is fitted) that things have been aligned differently.

So, I left the spotlight bar off. Result is good; bumper has never fitted better. Still feel a bit bothered that I was not able to refit the spotlight bar (I have 4 sets of spot / foglights waiting to be refitted (Hella / Lucas 2x / Marchal), but I guess I will have to make holes in the bumper now.

Do yourself a favor and 1) run a die over those painted threads first, and 2) cover the body with masking tape anywhere the bumper edges may touch the paint.

Nice looking car!
