I shut the door on the 1967 GT...and the jack tube fell off. :)
You could cut them off...but why do you want to do so?
I don't recommend actually using them....but they are out of harm's way.
This is for my race car which is very low to the ground. In many cases, I am unable to get a jack under the car. My last race two weeks ago, my very buff brother-in-law grabbed the roll bar and lifted the car high enough to roll the jack under. This is not the best solution.
I plan on removing the jack point and spot welding a 1"x1" piece of metal across the sill as shown in the picture.
This is the Huffaker car that Hap restored. You can see the the 1"x1"
So, this is why I am asking.
I just carefully cut mine off with an angle grinder while replacing floors and x-member. Then ground the area flush.
New ones can then be welded in place.
Ditto on Albert's technique.
The reason to take them off is that they distract from the appearance of the car. (IMHO) I have taken them off of several cars in the past with an air chisel.

On a race car, fine. But if I were buying a B and I saw the jack points were missing, I would probably walk away. I would wonder how many other shortcuts had been taken!
I'd probably echo Steve's comments on an original car. I should have added that I did this on my v8 conversion car.
If anyone gets one off and its still in one piece, I could use one, one of mine is missing on my '64.

That's funny - my car was already missing them when I bought it and though that they were completely useless when I installed the new rockers. I left them off, but don't consider it a shortcut - rather an update. More dead weight gone. :)
