Hi: Guys, Finally got rocker assembly back from machine shop , did re-assemble the rockers to shaft and installed , problem with rocker head to valve, wont align up evenly, to correct this, read that by using pipe between the rockers would be better than shimming, what type of material for pipe would be correct to use , stainless, and do you need to drill weep holes in these .

Thanks

Ron, maybe someone can answer about the grade of steel and holes. I did see some tubes at ACE that would work and in different lengths. Forget what they were called. machine spacers or something like that. Saw them after I had finished mine. Maybe next time for me.

Ya they have them at Osh also. Look in the parts bins. They usually have steel and bronze bushings that you can get of the exact inside diameter that you need. Osh sells them in the section where you buy nuts and bolts in the bins. They are in the little drawers of loose parts.

You could use about anything, stainless would be nice, but not necessay because it's not going to rust in there anyway. You can use aluminum, steel, I even seen guys use hi temp plastics like teflon before. You may even be able to buy them, I think VB or Moss one offers a set. Here's the main thing with everything torqued down you should still be able to rotate the spacers on the shaft if not remove and file down ends till you can spin on shaft. you can use washers as shims if needed, I just take the rocker shaft to fastner shop and find a tight fitting washer that works. There are also these things called stand-off spacers you can find them at places like Mcmaster-Carr they are made in pre-made lengths, but if it were me I would use tubing, that way you can cut them to the desired lenghts. I make mine on the the lathe using solid round stock drilling the ID to size and then a little creative turning to make them look trick, like anything, you can over do this, I normally overdo things :)
