I've just finished adjusting the valves. Can I just use some high-temp RTV to reinstall the valve cover, or do I have to buy the gasket (I noticed the old cork gasket was rather tall... a good 1/4")?

Gasket! use the silicone to glue it onto the valve cover only. A little bit of bearing greas on the head side.

Ralphs way is the best way that I've seen, lets you reuse it a few times.

I saw a set of Moss valve & side cover gaskets for $30 plus shipping. O'reilly's sells a valve cover gasket for $6, which (if it's cork) forces my decision. Coating the head side of the gasket with bearing grease sounds like an idea to use. Thanks.
