My car died and had to be towed...
Put in new points, condenser, cap, rotor and wires. Drove with this this set up since february without a problem. One day the car just died as I was flying down the interstate and had to be towed.
After messing around under the hood, I've decided to dig up the old rotor that I saved and lo and behold, car fired right up!
How common are these rotor failures? It appears that I am running "cheap crap" and are prone to failures. Who sells the "good" rotors, caps and wires now these days?
Tom

Tom,
Get a red rotor from Jeff Schlemmer http://www.advanceddistributors.com/ .
The problem with black aftermarket rotors is well known. Ask Jeff about any other parts you may need for your distributor. He is The Man!

Several years ago on the 1st time out with Big Healey i only managed to get about 2 blocks on a planned trip around the neighborhood. No top ,bumpers and night and possible rain on the way! I pushed it back as far as i could myself and then asked a passerby to help push it up the driveway!.....Upon removel of the Dist.Cap wala.......the new rotor had shed brass arm!
