I know this might be better suited to the Trader area, but I happen to really like this forum.
I am looking for the crank (and other internals) to turn the Rover into a 5.0 liter. I basically need a cross bolt main block and the crank/rods/pistons. I have buick 300 heads.
No low compression stuff wanted, basically looking for high end parts.
A punched out 3.5 liter high compression motor is fun, but I want a lot more HP (no nitrous or injection or blowers. Must still fit under hood.
In no hurry, I got plenty of time.

Why not get a Buick 300 motor? Sure, its a cast iron lump but it wouldn't require any special machining and it fits in in the exact same way as the Rover, I think you can even use your existing motor mounts. I don't think it weighs all that much more than the stock 4 cyl either. There are a few guys who've already done this 300 thing. You would need to change your transmission to something else but you were going to change it for a different LT77 anyways.

I bought a brand new D series LT77 from England (heavier duty) . So, I am sticking with this transmission for the conversion.
So, if I stick with the Rover based engine, I don't need to do anything to the already completed conversion. And will end up with more power, same weight.
If I was going to go to an iron block, I would switch to the Ford Small block, not Buick.
Talk with Mark or Dan at D&D.
I have a B&S 3.9 Rover that is close to what you are describing. Buick 300 crank and heads; bored +010; Ford pistons all yielding about 5 litres.
You know, that's the sort of thing I used to think about. But an aluminum block has it's limitations. Nice thing about the 300 is that you get the rigidity of an iron block but you can still use all of your 215 stuff (or 3.5 as the case may be.) No new headers, no new exhaust. No new starter, no new crossmember. No new motor mounts, no new distributor, etc, etc. and it only adds about 80 lbs. Heck, you can go to 340 and the only difference is a little taller deck. What's not to like about trading 80 lbs for 125 cubic inches? I bet that's lighter than a 5 liter Ford. In fact, for just a few pounds more than the Ford you could double the displacement. Go BBB! Yeah!

Jim, 0 pounds for 1.5 liters is better. And you ignore my post about having a brand new D Series LT77. Bellhousing on the Buick 300 isn't the same.
My 3.5 already has all the trick external parts I need. I really like the fact that it fits under the hood. As it sits, I have all of around maybe 1/2 inch between my stock hood and the air cleaner. My conversions is very clean and no big holes were cut (trans tunnel was the only thing cut), the engine weighs less than the 4. Basically all I would have to do, is put a different short block in it if I didn't have the Buick 300 heads. Everything else works great.
When I said the small block Ford, I really meant a SBF with aluminum heads. not a total cast iron engine.
