A couple weeks ago I was trying to get the engine of my 67 B to run properly. I thought it was only running on 2 cylinders. I checked al the settings several times and every time I started the engine the problem would remain. Plug 2 and 3 would be wet and when removing the plug cable while running nothing would happen. In the end I took it for a ride and was very surprised it was running well. Never ran beter since I bought it in 1995. I really got a kick out of it and remembered why I bought it in the first place.
The problem remains at idle. I haven't touched the carbs. Could an air leak cause this problem? Or is it a matter of tuning the SU carbs that are set too rich?
Fyi; plugs, distributor and plug cables are new. Compression is good, timing and valve clearance have been checked.
Thanks for your advice.

An air leak won't cause no electricity in the wire. Have you checked your spark plug wire order again? 1-3-4-2 in counter clockwise rotation.
Chris: if it runs good at high rpm but not at idle the fireing order has to be right but could have an other ING. problem?????
That's what is sounds like to me. Not getting enough spark to the spark plugs while idling.
Not necessarily. It can be out of order and running at higher rpms ok. Of course his definition of "running great" might be different, especially compared to running at idle.
Several years ago I had the firing order out. Pulling 2 plugs didn't help any. Idle wasn't worth sh*t, but driving around town it was "acceptable." A buddy of mine asked several times "are you sure you got the plugs on right?"
This guy didn't know squat about cars, so who is he to ask me that question? I live and breath cars! How dare he!!!!
He hasn't let me live that down since :)
