Is the Shifter on 1968-1971 different on 72-76? Looks the same one difference I can see is one is chrome and one is not.

James,
Moss list a 68-76 and a 77-on, the latter looking like a OD shifter. Nothing on finish though.

The shifter changed with the introduction of the side fill tranny, which coincided with the switch to rubber bumpers in 1974, the ball on the bottom of the shifters are different sizes and the two are not interchangeable. The dates given in the Moss catalogue for the shifter change are not correct.

Thanks this was the info I was looking for, I do know that the 72-80 shifters are interchangeable.

Mike,
That's interesting, the Moss catalog only list one bushing for all late boxes.

The bushing is the same, I should have been a little clearer, I meant the larger ball that sits in the socket on the transmission, not the one the bushing goes on.
