Was enquiring about the shipping cost of a ignition switch from Moss UK, wasn't planning on buying theirs, jusy getting a litle info for future reference. Got a reply back from them this morning..

Good Afternoon,

Shipping of the part 37H708 to you will be either:

25.28 pounds by post
Or
20.41 pounds by UPS

I think will pass! and informed them so. Do the maths at $1.64 to the pound.

One does have to wonder sometimes if retailers honestly believe JQ Public is a bunch of schleps. I realize that shipping isn't inexpensive but if it cost that much to ship a small part such an ignition switch, imagine what something the size of say a rear shock would cost. I don't want to hear all of the BS about weights etc., my point merely being that it would sure generate a lot more business if the shipping costs were linearly based upon the actual weight. Ei: the smaller the piece the *less* the shipping cost and not pro-rated on a scale.

I'm going back to bed now.

It costs me about $4 to ship an ignition switch to the UK, but it takes 5 times longer to do the paperwork to put a label on the package for overseas customs. Shipping from the UK to here is roughly 25-50% more expensive than the USPS.

Keep in mind that the products in the Moss UK catalog are usually the same ones sold here, and sold by many other European vendors.

I just had a steering wheel hub shipped from the MGOC, shipping was $14! You may be better off trying them, http://www.mgocspares.co.uk/

Ya,

The chap e-mailed me back and was very apologetic and his own words stated that he was rather surprised as it would be shipped in a small padded envelope.

thats just MOSS....They just don't want to bother with you. I buy lots of stuff on EBAY UK and small packets pricing is 6-8 pounds. That switch would easily go for that.
