Looking for some advice. I will be welding new floor pans in a '67 MGB and an seeing an issue with inner sills, bad/thin metal at the front. What I am wondering is if it is structualy sound to work in new metal on the sills. Rather than getting whole new inners.
thanx\

Esa. The inner sills are a thicker material than most of the car, so are a bit more forgiving to patching. If you do the new metalwork correctly it shouldn't be a problem, but it needs to be done right. This is a strength critical area.

Do it right, it'll be ok. They actually sell an inner sill patch - it's the front 4' or so, doesn't include the rear curved section. Lots of people have used that patch or pieces of it, or made their own.

I just finished doing exactly what you are proposing.
For a step-by step of how it was done, have a look at the following link. I have to say that in some ways it is a better result than doing full sills.
