Does anyone know of a source for a 12v - 3-5amp micro switch. I want to place one in the line that powers my "memory" radio.
This way I can "turn off" the power when I put the car away for the winter. Any help is appreciated.

I got my rocker switches from Parts Express. They sell their stuff for a fraction of what Radio Shack does, and I've been impressed with their parts. Here's the link for electrical components: http://www.parts-express.com/electronic-components.cfm

The 3 really big boys as far as electronics parts suppliers are concerned are

These guys have huge selections that you can choose from and all supply small quantities, not like some of the commercial account distributors.

Radio Shack would likely have something. getting one online or mail order will involve shipping costs that would exceed parts cost from RS

as for needing one, why not just disconnect the battery?

I have a battery shut off switch with a 3amp fuse across the posts to keep the radio memory powered. If I need it all off, I just remove the fuse.

Thanks for all the info...I stopped by Radio Shack and picked up a mini rocker and a mini spade switch, both of which are lit.
They cost $3.49 each so not a bad price. I am going to use the paddle and put it where a blank was on my console under the radio.
The reason I want this is so I do not have to fiddle with a fuse holder (already doing this) or remove the battery cover to
disconnect battery cable(s). This is a lot easier and looks good on the console. Thanks for all the input. I saved the sites
you all listed for future reference.

Why not just place the radio memory power wire straight to the battery so it does not go through the cut off switch at all.

This would work if you don't ever need to optionally cut out the radio as well.

Using the switch removes the constant drain (I know it is just a trickle) to the battery when I lay the car up over the winter. It justs saved some battery juice.

I understand now Don. Sometimes I try to forget winter is nearly here again so I was thinking this was moreso for the "every day".

Sounds like you have a good handle on what you want to get done.

Yep...winter is quickly coming...tonight it was getting dark at 7:30 and it is 60 degrees outside.
In a week our pool went for 84 to 74 degrees...almost time to close it. Maybe one or two good
weekends left. Next it is the B....darned winter.

Took my B to work today and it was only 55* out. Top down too!
