Its been 30 yrs since I've owned an MGB and now i have 2. 1 runner and 1 parts car. Should I put the stock zenith on the runner or keep the weber? Basically I'm asking which is better in a round a bout way. It does have aluminium headers.

Well, if it has aluminum headers, it already has the Weber since the Zenith intake is a combination intake/exhaust...or its already setup for the Weber.....personally, I think any carb is better than a Weber but there are many who swear by them....

And while we're on this subject, what is the best size tire????? I want it to grip the road, not be too skinny, or too wide, absolutely no chance of rubbing with weak springs, but make the MG look like the Hulk's cousin, must be able to fit 14" & 15" rims, be less than $20 a piece, and I must be able to pick them up at my local Sam's club!

Sorry Bill, I guess I got carried away. You're going to hear a lot of different opinions, but since I'm the second one you'll hear I say go with the weber. Since you only have two carbs to work with, that would be the way to go.

No catalouge, or book ever said "Replace that worn out Weber with a brand new Zenith and get the Umph back in your MG the way it was designed!"

The weber is better performing AND more reliable than the ZS. Since it's already on there, I'd keep it.

**** Standard disclaimer: As much as I dislike ZS carbs from several miserable experiences and being disgusted by the way they sapped about 25% of the poor B's power, Tony B. has proven to me they can be a usable, more or less reliable carb ****

Tires: I think 185/70s are a good all-round tire size on a B.

Steve,

I have P185/65R15 86H Yokohama Avid H4 Tires on 5½J x 15H2 ET 40 SAAB
Mag Alloy Rims on my 71 and I think that's just about as big as you can get without fouling anything up. One point to keep in mind, I believe the Yokohamas are high speed tires and are fairly sticky. That combined with the extra width in the 'footprint' does make the steering heavier.

I HATE the stromberg that they put on the MGB's. The manifold sucks big time, and the water choke is a piece of junk. On Webers I have never, after doing many conversions, had a problem with the set up or the customer sastisfaction. Now that said. I have never had any problems with the stromberg set up on Jags, or any of the Triumphs that have them on them. They have a much better intake set up and a manual choke.
