What is the thought on stainless steel versus mild steel versus aluminized steel coatings?
I'm about to shop for a new exhaust - perhaps SS with larger diameter/better performance. Any suggestions on where to order?

Mild steel is for "correct" restorations. Stainless steel will be around for a lot longer, so why not, especially if you want to open it up a bit.
Our salmon trawler had a ss exhaust stack put on in the late 70's. It still is there after sitting out on the coast every day of the year and running deisel exhaust.
If you are keeping the car and driving it a lot go for the SS big bore. I would have except for two reasons. I knew my car would be a Favored Toy and not driven daily, and I had already spent a ton of money by the time I got to that part and decided to do something a little less expensive. With the SS syltem you're set for any engine mods you may want to do from now on.
i went and used the PECO 2" (red in color ) system, and
the whole sytem coated by HP COATINGS
( www.hpcoatings.com) so it was an aliminized system...i have been very happy it so far, as the hearder still have thier semi gloss sheen, even after pulling the mountain roads. i did that as it helps to keep underhood temps resonable....
just a suggestion, tho.. whatever system you do decide to use, i would put some anti seize on the bolt threads of the fastners , and also see if there may be some sort anti seize compound made for just exhaust pipes, so that if you ever have to take it apart, it will come apart easily
I put the two muffler system from Moss on my 79. The fit was very good and it's guaranteed for life against corrosion. I've gone through only one winter so far, but all seems fine. I also replaced the cat. converter, since mine was toast!
Thanks for the replies. I put a Speedy Muffler aluminized mild steel on my Subaru less than three years ago and it is completely shot now. What a rip off!
I don't want to make the same mistake on the MGB.
