Hey everyone,

I'm wondering if anyone could suggest a good sway bar setup for my B.

It's a 79 RV8(not that if matters) swapped, I'm running 550# springs in the front and 7leaf reverse eye l.springs in the rear.

The car is going to be casually street driven and auto-crossed when time allows.

I've had people suggest the stock front and no rear bar or a 7/8" front bar and stock rear.

Any insight?

Robert, this article may be of interest to you. I've seen Carl in action and both he and his car are great on the autocross course and still very roadworthy. Remember that the type of tire you select will also have a big effect on the size bars needed. Carl runs a pretty sticky Toyo. http://www.britishv8.org/MG/CarlFloyd.htm

No rear bar with a 7/8" front unless you are running a LSD. The rear bar will tend to unload the inner rear wheel on tight corners with resulting wheel spin.

So I should run a rear bar with LSD? Is that the stock rear bar? I have a ford 8" w/ lsd waiting outside when I have some free time.

I've never actually seen a factory rear bar so I won't comment as to effectiveness. With a LSD, a rear bar when balanced to the front will improve the cars turn-in with out inner rear wheel spin.

I run a 7/8" front bar & a stock rear bar, both mounted in poly, car has been lowered. Secret weapon (not really a secret, but oh what difference) shaved Toyo RA1s 205/55-14s on 14X6 wheels.

I have a lowered '77 with the 7/8" bar in front, and the stock bar in back and poly/V-8 bushings. Stock springs and original shock absorbers. I do quite well at autox's. I still think the BMC/British Leyland knew what they were doing........

A challenge!

My son's Brian and Jon were there. Brian with the '80 V-6 and Jon with the 924 V-8 Porcha.

The challenge is; Your V-8 MGB against my 1.8 OE '77 'B' at a sanctioned autox!

We have many events here in the twin cities including some Austin Healey events.

http://calendar.mnhealey.com/ hill climb, gymkhana, and airport events.

The would be ONLY for the auto cross event, not speed nor drag's.
