Theres a little switch on the shifter on my 1980 MGB,, just brought it for my wife, gonna restore it,,looking for an owners manual soon,, does it control the over drive??

Yep!! Assuming everything is stock and fully functional, that'll engage OD in 4th gear only....

No I wouldn't bother, it isn't for the OD - it means the car is supposed to be sold again, to me for $1.

Yep, that switch is how you turn on and off the OD. If you have a OD it is a sought after feature and you are lucky guy, so is the wife...might want to rethink giving it to her if it's not to late, keep it for yourself. Welcome from Huntsville, Alabama
