In May I was at a show in Rome and a gentleman had an MG Experience t-Shirt on. I also saw a thread where everyone was being encouraged to wear their t-shirts to a show.
So, for us new guys - how do we get a t-shirt?

I bought two last year and still have one in the package. They are going to be a collectors item some day, so.... How about........
$200.00
I will pay for shipping too :D
Actually, I think the '71's owner is digging it out to wear on our trip up north next week. Sorry.
Paul
The tee shirts were offered for sale as a way to help fund this site a couple of times in the past, but it is not an ongoing thing. Perhaps if there is enough interest someone would step up to the plate and chair the effort again. It would be nice to keep the effort going constantly but I suspect no one is willing to handle the headaches and finacial risks involved in oredering and keeping a supply of shirts on hand. Only people who deal with orders and shipping on a daily basis can realize what's really involved in a venture like this. It really was service above and beyond and my hat's off to those who made it possible in the past
Gerry's right. Chuck did it about 2-3 years ago and I worked with Chuck last year on a second run. I would like to do it again as I've almost worn out my T's! I did send a note to Skye earlier in the spring to do it again and he wanted to hold off as he was thinking about an "MGBExperience" store. Either way, I would help out and do it again. It was fun.
Here is me "modeling" mine!
The MG Experience shirts are well traveled. Let's do it again. And the wife wants one too.
What a fantastic view, Jay! Fall down that slop and you may not stop rolling until next week!
I would be intersted in a couple if there is a 3rd run of MGBExperience T-shirts.
I regret not getting one when they were available before.
Regards, Graham
Paul - if my wife would let me spend $200, I'd be buying parts - not a t-shirt - even one as beautiful as the shirt that the lovely and talented John Moore is modeling!!
I might reconsider if it comes with a trip to Peru.
I'll send an email to Skye and see if he's interested in doing it again.
I would be more than happy to help out. Not sure what is involved, but if someone is willing to help me with it, I am in. I like t-shirts, more than my wife would like me to!

Gerry, that is an understatement!
:)
What would be good is if Skye could get something set up with an online vendor who would handle the orders and shipping and inventory. Of course, that cuts into the profits, but also cuts into the burden of keeping up with it, and makes it easy for anyone to order at any time, therefore driving up the volume.
If you get "tent" size, count me in for a couple. David maples wears a green one to the shop form time to time, it's a good looking tee shirt.
Kim has a good idea. How about a company like one of these?

http://www.designashirt.com/
I did a search on "custom t-shirts" and this one came up. There were others. Maybe there are some that provide a profit to the designer. Both of these allow designs to be purchased by other people.
Seems to me like paying someone to handle the work kinda defeats the purpose. I think the number one purpose should be to benefit Skye and the BBS. Any money that is paid to a third party just cuts down the money that should be going to Skye.
I agree with Gerry about a "third party" (non MBGE person) handling things.
It cuts down on the profit for Skye as Gerry said and with the number of people on this board someone(s) should be able to do it.
George Herschell
If I had the shirts, or caps for that matter, I'd be willing to keep them on hand and ship them out as orders came in. If someone else could arrange to make the shirts and ship them to me, and say a third party to recieve the money and forward it to Skye. Anyone interested in the other two parts of the scheme?
Wasn't it pointed out that Skye wanted to keep control of this venture? If so, it is time to wait.
This is a good place. You can do other things other than just T-shirts.

The BCCMC in Columbia gets a pretty good deal from Outer Banks. Don't know how much the club pays, but the club can sell nice embroidered-logo golf shirts for $25 and make a profit. Check out these - they look nice:

If Skye is wary about taking the financial risk (and that is not unreasonable), we could all share that risk around in tiny portions by setting an ordering deadline to finalise the quantity required; work out the price per shirt for the quantity (with shipping); then send in final orders with payment. Little chance of being left holding unsold stock.
If something went horribly pear-shaped (like???) each "customer" might be out a few bucks each instead of one person left holding the bag.
Eric
Wouldn't it be easier to just decide on a design and have everyone 'prepay' for the shirts (including shipping)? Set a deadline, when the money is in, THEN order the shirts.
Maybe we can offer both the golf shirts and teeshirts. IF the shirts are pre-paid, then shouldn't be a big deal to order X amount of each. Would the golf shirts look okay silkscreened though, or would you want them embroidered? That would jack up the price of the shirts a bit. I do have a contact we use for the club for both embroidery and silkscreening.
And we still have to add enough to the cost of the shirt to make some profit for the site.
I would be willing to 'collect' the funds and be responsible for mailing out the shirts. But I don't want any part of deciding on the design or costs.

That's what I did last time I organized the sale. Basically, it was all made to order. But I think Chris has a point. I think Skye has thoughts of putting together a "store" so we'll have to wait and see. But I did send him an email about making more, I just haven't heard back.
Janel - did you read my post above about Outer Banks? Just an example, maybe yours is just as economical or more so? I think the $25 for an embroidered golf shirt is pretty good and our club makes some profit on that, unless I'm mistaken...I'll check on it.
That's what Chuck's embroidered club shirt ran, but prices varied depending on the shirt individuals ordered. But there was no club profit in those shirts, strictly went to the supplier, since it wasn't a club 'fundraiser.'
I'm good with anything. I'd prefer a teeshirt or a sweatshirt, but majority rules.
I agree with what was said about ordering golfs or tees or whatever you want as long as the quantity is enought to get someone to do it.. I have emailed a contact in Columia who should know what our club's shirts cost.
Embroidered golf shirts. Screening looks, well, tacky on that style of shirt in my opinion.
If the logo isn't too big, an embroidered t-shirt is nice as well. We have those for British V8, and I did them for the Spurious Club this year.
Here is a picture of our club shirt. We got 2 for $36.46, a mens and a ladies, both are Outer Banks.
Dick, I like the gray - our club uses choice of yellow or light blue.
I'd take a pic of Chuck's club shirt, but it's in the washing machine as we speak. The lady in STL that does our embroidery doesn't have a limit, she'll do one or 100. Price is a flat price for the embroidery, shirt prices vary and she orders through ssactivewear.com
I agree, embroidery on polo-type shirts, but I think silkscreened would look best on tees.
And there would have to be someone (ahem, George Hershell?) that could create a design for us to use.
This is our club logo (less the background color)

That's a great idea too. I think we probably need to table all this discussion until Skye's around though. Because of design and the possibility of opening an MGBE Store.
I think John Moore has already emailed Skye about this, so we'll wait to see what John or Skye has to say, okay with everyone?
Caps would certainly be easier (one size fits all). Only problem with it is that I already have way too many caps, and tend to only wear one or two that happen to really stay on my shape head.
(Come to think of it, I have way too many MG-related Ts and polos, too. But what the heck!)
Kim . The reason I thought about a ball cap was that, being here in Ontario it gets sometimes a liitle chilly for a t-shirt and if you had the the cap it might be just the cats meow to be able to identify one of us
Ron
Embrodied patches so the buyer could put it on his choice of shirts or caps?
Patches? ..... We don't need no stinkin' patches!
(Sorry...SOMEONE had to say it!)
Only way I know of to satisfy everyone(caps, tee, polo, golf)
I have a brother in the business. On several occasions I’ve asked him to have a logo digitized (sp).
This way there is no minimum on the orders I place. Can do one shirt or hat at a time any size or color.
I’m retired and have some extra time so I’ll volunteer to place the order and ship them out as long as somebody in authority puts the final price on the item. I’ll supply all the receipts. Last time I did something similar, it cost about $60-100 to make the disk up, only need to do this once, an embroided T- shirt then ran about $11. Golf shirt are tough to price without a ‘Brand name’ to start with. If you want my help, let me know.
Larry
