Hello Everyone,
Just wondering if anyone knows the preferred tappet clearance for a 78 'B. I currently have them set @ .305. I think that they might be a little tight. My car has 57 000 original kms on it and the engine is quite "ticky"; last year I had a new performance cam and big bore header manifold installed. I resently installed dual K&N Air Filters (great improvement on performance) and a new rocker valve assembly. The engine is still quite noisey.

Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks
Iain

Yep... they're too tight. They should be .33 hot or .38 cold (assuming that .305 of yours is mm's!). Setting them too tight makes them a little quieter - but will also burn your valves...

Hold on, Joe. He's got a cam in there. Some cams, depending on the manufacturer, suggest all the way down to .012 (don't know what that is in mm)

Duh.......didn't notice that. His .305mm - .012".

Thanks....maybe I'll try a few different measurements to see if that helps.
