So I'm sitting in my office ready to start the long weekend when a gentleman comes in and asks who owns the blue MGB, I said that would be me. We start to chat about things MG and how he used to own a '74 yadda yadda yadda, and how he recently imported a 2004 limited edition TF into the states. He told me the story of how he got it into the country...was not easy...very interesting. Just goes to show ya, you meet the nicest people in the MG world. I also realize that my B must have been a southern car...'cuz it's in the mid 90's here and she seems to run exceptionally smooth.
I hope everyone out there has a safe and enjoyable memorial day weekend...

Did the guy get it registered in MA? That has to be a story.
So tell us some of the story!! You're talking a modern tf, right?
Any contact info on him?
Sorry I had to be brief as I was getting ready to go home for the day...story goes he was in Ireland and got to drive a TF, he had owned a B in the 70's and didn't even know the marque was still making cars. He started doing some research on how he could import one. While researching on the web he found the name of a Washington attorney who helped Bill Gates import a Porche. He got the phone number of the firm and called, thinking he would be put into an answering machine or brushed off, he was amazed the attorney took his call and was extremely helpful. Apparently there is some loophole in the law that allowed a car with a limited production to be imported. He told me the name of the attorney and some other info, but my memory isn't what it used to be. Anywho, he purchased the car sight unseen from a dealer in England, wired the money and had to wait about 4 months to get it to South Carolina, where he ownes a home. He said he would stop by with it some time so I'm assuming he has it here in MA. He said it is a little strange driving a right hand drive car here in the States, especially shifting...It was nice chatting with him and certainly made the slowmoving end of the day before a long weekend go by a bit quicker.
