Pardon me while I vent.

The power company sent a crew to trim the trees around here (good thing)

They did a very nice job gently trimming the 200 year old oak out front that the pole is actually guyed off too (good thing)

While doing this they hit the phone line to the house so we now have no landline phones in the house (bad thing)

When I went to pick up the cell phone to call Verizon, the charger cord caught a drawer pull and the phone fell into the cat's water dish killing that as well.

Thank you for listening.....

I'm hoping the cat wasn't around the water dish.

Dunk the phone in some denatured alchohol. It should work within a few days. Our son put my wife's phone in the toilet a year ago, and it still works after that trick.

Had the same incident with my boy and the phone. My wife thought it would be OK to let him play with my cell phone. 20 seconds later it was in the toilet.

I did take it completely apart and leave it for three days after which it worked fine.

The craziest thing was that it messed up the calender and call list to be like a year old. All of the information in the phone was like ten months outdated????? I have no idea how this happened.

Example: The last # dialed button showed a ten month old # that had changed since and i had called the new # many times?????

Anyway just wanted to share that it happens and the phone still works fine.

Hmmm... Carl, some people say bad things come in threes. Maybe you better stay away from the power tools today, know what I'm sayin'? Actually I'm sorry for your woes, but I'm completely stressed out today and your tale actually gave me a chuckle. I too was picturing the cat getting a jolt! How's the weather in Maine? I've only been there once, but I miss it every day. It's my "if I win the lottery I'm moving there" place.

Humm, you are right about the three things. Pushing my luck using the 74B as the communter vehicle to work tonight. Right now it is a balmy 20f out with over two feet still on the ground. Right now it should be 40+ with rapidly melting snow pack but oh well, that's New England.
Maine is; "The way life should be"
I moved here on my own at 17 and never looked back.

Take it apart and dry it out. My phone went through the washer once. We didn't notice until the pants came out of the dryer. It was still a little wet inside so I took the hair dryer to it and that fixed it! Amazed me :)

That is so funny, makes my stubbing my toes this morning not so bad.

I did that once with my current wife on the phone. This was when we were dating and we weren't living together. I had roomates that I lived with and we all had our own phones in our rooms, because roomates and phonebills don't always work themselves out. So there I am doing the flirting and smoozing that you do when you first start dating and then all of a sudden I have to go to the bathroom. (You see where this is going) So I walk to the bathroom with my cordless phone and just as I finish, plop right outta my hand into the toilet. And prior to the flush, I might add. I didn't want her to know I was peeing. So there I am trying to talk into a pee logged cordless phone. She had to wait until the next day to here from me. The funny thing is I sill have that phone 7-8 years later, it was one of the first reaaly ggod cordless home phone that really worked while walking around the block. Once the pee smell went away it worked fine.

ps. It took about 5 days to dry out and work again.

Always happens at the worst possible time

Wish I had known that for my dad - his fell out of his shirt pocket into the toilet last fall - I'll file that one away for future reference.
