Geeez! Silly Italians! lol!

But you know, that's the kind of repair I like, your friends come over and go, "HOLY SMOKE! What did you do to you car?!"

I've been getting alot of that lately.

Could have started out with a turn signal bulb, and the might-as-wells got to him. :D

Wow!

There are other silly repairs, but I've not seen one on that scale before. I had a buddy with a VW Golf with a burned-out instrument bulb. We looked in the repair manual and it said, "Step 1. Remove gearshift knob." That was so that you could remove the shift gaiter, so that you could remove the shift surround, so that you could remove the lower centre console, so that you could remove the upper console, so that you could remove the instrument bezel, so that you could remove the gauge cluster, so that you could access the bulb. "Installation is the reverse of removal." ;-)

A friend of mine had an instrument bulb burn out in his Z3. After he got the dealer quote to replace it, he decided he would start looking for another car.
