Just to give you an idea of the size of these badboys!
Craziest-looking B motor I've ever seen.........what is that from and what kind of modifications are you doing down there?
I do like the 4 valves/cylinder. Very modern!
Yep, that's definitely broke! Construction equipment? Ship?
What is that, a Cummins or Cat diesel?
10 minute break in on a diesel generator motor. Not sure what happened, still under investigation. Each head a seperate unit. Definitily something gone amiss. These things cost more than my house.
Looks like the valves seized in the down position for some reason and the piston smashed them off.
12 cylinder, happened on several cylinders but not all. Just had a top end job.

Looks sort of like one of those German Duetz ( spelling? ) engines that they put in big Italian yachts. Tremendous power!!! Two can sling an eighty foot yacht up to about sixty miles and hour. Can't remember the site that I saw one in, but I do recall that the performance was positively breathtaking. Cost? Probably more than I will make in my lifetime.

oh hell, just put in a new gasket, and bolt her up....she'll be fine...
As thin as this may sound, could the valves that were installed (they appear to be new) have been of questionable manufacture or the wrong application? Was any work done to the injector pump housing? Looks like there was considerable heat build up to have galled the surfaces like that.
Voting for injector timing here. Were any of the 'rack' setting 'adjusted'????
Precombustion is a destructive dawg!
Or non-OEM parts; there is a big difference sometimes; sometimes not.
Aint that a bitch
I say put it back together, fire it up, pour a can of Bon Ami down the intake and go to some fifty weight with a big dose of STP.
Then put an ad in a paper in another state and sell the darned thing!

Seafoam. Yeah, that'll fix it.
I've always found that 90 weight oil mixed with some sawdust is very good at masking knocks and clanks. :)
I have just revised my thoughts on ever buying a car from a board member:->
