Jim was the son of Mart Froemsdorf, my mentor in the arts of auto mechanics and we were very good friends. Even tough his father and I knew he was wounded in Nam Jim never spoke of his injury and nobody ever knew what it was. His worst enemy in Nam was new guys in his own outfit. Once when he was entering camp from a scouting mission two of them opened up on him with their M16s on full automatic but neither of them hit him.
He told about only the funny and lucky things that happened in the jungle.
Don't miss Jim's "Buzzing" of a fellow officer on page 2,

Sometimes we lose one too early, and it's hard to understand and accept. Sounds like he was quite a man!

There aren't enough correct words to express feelings on these kind of things, just a sinking feeling. Last week we lost a Seattle police officer who was murdered while sitting in his patrol car with a trainee discussing the last stop.
