Very light mist most of today but I still got a couple of riverboat pictures. They just happened to be coming upstream when I stepped through the flood wall gate. The were the M/V Senator Stennis and the M/V Rena Marie.
The Stennis had a mixed tow of 16 barges with one of them being empty and the Rena Marie was pushing two tanker empty barges. She was painted the same way as a couple of other small boats with 2 to 4 tank barges that run out of Houma, LA always empty going upriver and loaded coming back. I don't know where they go or what they carry. They have several of those boats and frequently change crews here at Cape Girardeau, MO.
Today the skipper of the Rena Marie took some pictures himself while cruising by.
The last time I posted my album riverboats it contained about 100 pictures. Now it has 237 <http://rides.webshots.com/album/581998735zUvfyq>
...thanks Dave, but thats the area where our lake is, our are is corny fields, JDW keep postin river boats are cool....and that river is real big.

...howdy LaVerne....If I/we didn't go on our hikes every weekend I would feel like a prisoner. We have been doing it since we first started dating way back in the 1860's..
Wyatt: Love the pine? trees in the one photo. Great area for afternoon strolls.
Very beautiful. Wyatt, I know that it's Winter now, but when you hike in your area in the Spring and Summer, how concerned do you need to be about Lyme ticks? I've heard that it's a real problem in Michigan.

Dana, not so bad in the woods, but it is a problem in the tall grass fields, IU got some on me last summer, altho I don't think they bit me or even if they were the lymey kind...we didn't converse much for me to discern an accent...
Great pics Wyatt - I'd like to visit that part of the country sometime - one July, maybe. That one tree looks like it could be a bit spooky if you happened upon it in less than full daylight!
John - Love the riverboats. I wish there were rivers around here large enough to support that kind of traffic. Cosest we have to that are the tugboats down at Charleston and Savannah. They're a hoot to watch also. But a big river - that's something special. Things, people, come down the river from who-knows-where or when. Another place I'd love to travel sometime.
