MGB: Time for the hardtop ... :-(

Up here in 'sunny' WA state theres a pending doom that fall is approaching - the nights are getting longer and we just finished a run of some very nice sunny weather that I dont think we will see again for awhile. Tonight you can feel it in the air - its time for the hardtop to go back on. I really cant complain Ive been driving 'topless' for almost 8 weeks to and from work.

Im not a fan of storing a folding roof that takes up what little space I have behind the seats so Im either topless or I fit the hard roof.

So thats tomorrows agenda - I'm going to fit the roof back on and then get back to rebuilding an old pair of HS4's I acquired along with a rebuild kit on order from Joe Curto.

Its weird how I look forward to fitting the roof and then in the spring taking it off. Lets see if my daily driver survives this winters challenges... :)

P.S.
We just got back from the 'motherland' where we went to an Air Show \ Car Rally (near Southport) and the MG\Triumph cars were handsomely represented. i had a nice chat with a fella regarding the US mods on the US MGB. Great day!!!

Wait just a minute here. The weather's not gone, (the sun that is)...just a front moving through man! It is going to get back to summer on Thursday - Friday we're gonna be in the 80's again! Don't dismiss summer so quickly!

Don't put your hard top on yet...wait until Mid-september!

Hey Bud,.... slow down,.. we haven't even gotten to Labor Day yet!! Have you lost your sense of time? Give me some of that stuff you're smoking must be wicked stuff to make you loose 2 more months of sunny driving. September is one of the best months here in Seattle for top down MGB stuff.

I had to pull the bed sheet up over me last night. In Los Angeles. In August!

Beautifully mild summer thus far. Hope it stays this way through October - September can sometimes be brutal for heat.

Unfortunately I have to jump the gun a little as I do not carry the soft-top around and if I leave work and its raining- Im gonna get wet. :)

Soooo - with the advent of the current rain the hardtop is being bolted back on. As for not running around with the top - I have one but at 6" tall the rolled up mess behind my seat is just a nuisance. as is getting the seatbelts to extract correctly with that darn roof in the way :)

Oh come on...'rolled up mess'...what, McFly? McFly! It isn't a rolled up mess. Let's see, it take me about 15 seconds put the top up. If one folds it correctly behind ths seats, it isn't a rolled up mess, please, give us a break man!

Get someone to video that 15 second top-up and post it on YouTube. I'm sure lots of us would like to see that.

John, have you considered getting a pack-away top and frame to carry at the beginning and end of the season? And a full tonneau?

Almost time to take the hardtop off here, for driving season #2, September-November.

From the pictures of your 50 cent third brake lamp, looks like you timed things about right!
