Sir... i take notice and am disappointed in your attitude in classifing parts clerk as useless monkeys who do not know their ass from peanuts.. who appointed you the almighty parts guru?
i have read every one of your posts in here, and i for one am disappointed of your so called opinions on peoples problems ... some of your comments can and should be left to yourself .. i work for an auto parts store, and i use the computer, and i also use the books.. i am also an aviation mechanic, motorcycle mechanic, and computer repair technician and i do my own repairs on my own B, does this make me a moron.. ? i think not.
just because YOU have had bad experiences does not mean that all the parts clerks are MORONS as you are implying... all persons have strengths as well as weakness'.

what i am implying and requesting is a bit more tact in your reply's, concerning people and thier occupations and educational experiences..

Tom you are entitled to your opinion and I happen to agree with you. I seem to remember something about the 1st amendment addressing this issues some time back before MG's.
I have been reading this page for some time. I thought that it was a place to offer suggestions advice and opinions.
Jason you seem sensitive dont know were you find the time to own an MG let alone work on it if you are all you say you are

Hey Guys, lets chill out !
I'm sure Tom was speaking in generalities and that is the way it should be taken.
Of course there are knowledgable parts people and of course there are those who can't find their butts with both hands.
I have never seen a personally-directed insult on this list in spite of the variety of opinions expressed.
Let's just keep our MG's running.
Happy Thanksgiving

For the record. I'M 55 years old and can remember the auto parts stores of yesteryear. The big co. are running the small parts stores out of buisness by gettin parts that aren't up to par in a lot of cases and selling them retail for what the small stores pay wholesale for their stuff. This happen to hardware stores some years ago as well. Do any of you guys remember when you walked into a hardware store and someone actually aproached you to see if they could help you find something when you walked in the door. Well, those days are all but history. There are a few good auto parts stores out there just as there are a few real hardware stores. Jason, I'm sure as you say you try and help your customers, but you walk with the a special breed in the buisness. Buy the way I'm an old aircraft mech too. What did you work on.

i am of the age of 42.. i have been doing aviation maintenance and parts since i joined the AF since 1975 right outta high school.. i still work on aircraft, and work on the F-16, as an engine mechanic, hydraulic technician, electrical repairs, and also assist in the repair of the computer data systems that these planes use... and also work for an auto part store part time on the weekends, whose paycheck i use for MG.

unfortunatley, the same scenerio is the same as what some of the mass merchandisers are also doing to the small mom/ pop stores...

Tom.. i am not mad at you or anything..and you are entitled to your opinion, which is so called allowed by our form of government, just as i am.. what i was refereing to was the fact of if someone here were to read some of the posts, what was meant and what was read are two different things, due to the fact that we, as internet users, cannot see eyes, body language or vocal tone... the amount of tips and knowledge you provide is invaluable to everyone here...

just please do not classify the people of a profession into a group of incompetent workers..

You are the same age as my wife. I was a flight engineer on the Admirals plane at NAS Memphis in the late 60's. It was a B54 4 engine resip. I also worked on the navys F4,A4,F8,and A1E's. I didn't pursue it in after the Navy because I was married with a son,and couldn't go to A&E school 40 hr's a week for two years. I also worked on Harley Davison motor cycles in the 70's up until the dealership burnt to the ground. You are right I have been taken wrong ,with some of my statements, because it's hard to express your demeanor at the time I'm writing.

Just because we love Brit cars doesn't mean we've repealed the 1st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution which guarantees free speech and the right to own and drive MGBs. If our forefathers hadn't broken with England we would be drinking warm beer from Lucas refrigerators. Happy Holidays to everyone that posts on this site!
