Tom, If you end up repainting your wheels be sure and find somebody who has done them in silver, they turned out right, and they know what was used. Today I painted the grille & bumpers for my Jettup and to spite choosing the brightest silver I could find and my paint mixer leaving out any tints that would darken it, the stuff is light gray in subdued light. The silver shows pretty well in direct sunlight. I think it will be OK when mounted next to the contrasting dark colors on the truck, but it's not as silver as I'd hoped for.

John, now you know what I meant about there being more then a thousand shades of silver. Thats why I gave up on trying to even come close to a match when I powder coated my wire wheels.
You know it doesn't make any difference how many shots of Jimmy B I injest, these damn powder coated wheels still look like some kind of powdery whitish grey with little specks of metalic something or another in them, topped off with a clear coat that makes them glow! You know I just might take my Bronze yellow 71 B, paint a large purple racing stripe down the center, and put my glowing powder coated wheels on it and call it quits. After all, I will always be able to find it in a parking lot!
I found that the best silver/grey paint for wires to be one of the following according to what others have advise. Moss motors wheel paint, Ditzler #DAR2593, Duplicolor #FM-149 or T229, Plasti-Kote 1587. All of these are found in rattle cans. For other then rattle can crapp, the Ditzler cross matches to a mixed Dupont 5580 silver which can be bought in any amount from an auto paint store. Good luck in your painting project, I think I'll just start chasing my wiskey with a little Millers Lite and it won't make any difference what color my wire wheels are?
