Waiting on parts for the 79, and it's either too wet or too hot to drive the 71 bgt. Time to pay more attention to the vegetable garden where things have gotten ridiculous. Most of my 16 tomato plants have outgrown the seven foot long stakes they're tied to. I've had to prop two plants up with stepladders, and now I'm out of ladders. Green tomatoes are now the size of softballs. I didn't make the mistake my late father made when he planted one of his tomatos next to the street. A mature "Big Walt" variety of tomato fell off the vine, rolled down the street, and knocked my neighbor's pekinese dog into a coma. I'm ok on the liability issue, but short on ladders.

you could always feed them to the woodchuck. Too bad I'm not closer. I can eat fried green tomatoes for days

I have three very large dogs Blake, and they like tomatoes too. of course I haven't found much they won't eat, and the way Laura spoils them there isn't much they haven't tried

Fried green tomatoes are a delicacy, for sure. Hope to dine on some tonight. The groundhog isn't bothering the tomatoes, but has been sampling my late crop of white "silverqueen" corn. Errant gunfire has failed to deter the beast. May have to borrow some mean dogs.
