My replacement W/S doesn't have the snaps for the front tonneau achors on each side.

I seem to remember that there should be snaps in the W/S pillars?

If so, is there any problem drilling appropriate sized holes and screwing replacement snaps in there? Will I hear a cracking sound and then say bad words?

dan, there should already be a hole in the pillar... inside, top.

i fixed the male snap in place to the pillar with a blind rivet.

Dan-you're talking about a tonneau and I think Bruce is talking about a top (correct me Bruce if I am wrong)...just for clarification.

There should be a snap at the bottom of the windshield "A" pillar. If it were my project I would carefully drill the hole. You will need to make that decision for yourself though.

I have done that and it should not be a problem because the glass is not in that location. I used a snap that had a self tapping screw in it.

I prefer to have someone lese make it for me. : )

It's the tonneau, I referring to. I had to replace a cracked W/S and opted the easy way out...bought a used one, frame intact.

It was from a 67, however and doesn't have the snaps on the lower portion of the pillars where I think they belong (memory issues).

So, I figure I can pick some up at the hardware store and screw or rivet them in place, but I HATE drilling into that assembly....fear is a powerful thing.

So that's the issue of the day. No velcro for this car. No sirreee.

i had the same problem about two years ago and i got some special snaps from some company on the internet. these snaps only come loose one sided so they don't pull off from the bottom...only from the top (as they sit vertically on the w/s pillar). if you're interested let me know and i'll go out to the garage and search out the packing slip with the name.

Sure James. That would be helpful.

I bought some Tenax fasteners that I plan to install in those locations based on a recommendation I think from Twig here many moons ago. Now that they arrived, they seem to be a vastly superior design.
