First drive of the season for me in northern Ohio. Got to bring my car home today from the MG mechanic after a clutch replacement, front suspension rebuild and a number of other assorted projects. What a riot seeing the looks on people's faces as I passed them on the freeway. Even in this kind of weather, what a great feeling driving... at least it was sunny out today.
Decided in late January, I would rather drive this spring than spend my very limited free time working in the garage, so I arranged for a solid week of work in mid February. Car has been finished for almost two weeks, but the weather here has not been the greatest. I was going to tow it home, but it was sunny today and I couldn't resist driving it. Roads were dry, so I went for it.
Come on spring, I need 15 more degrees to be comfortable!

Once a long time ago when I was young and bold and not too smart, I took my MG/TR4 (I cannot remember which) to have a new convertible top put on it during winter in Minnesota. I believe that it was in December or January. It was in the teens and I was wearing a snowmobile suit with a woolen hat and mittens. I had the windows rolled up and the heater blowing as hard as possible. My neighbor followed me in another car so that I could have a ride home. He said that the looks from everyone that I was getting during the drive gave him a big grin during the entire trip to the repair shop. I do not remember see anyone since I was hunkered down as low as possible.
The crazy things that we do for our cars.
Top down, heater blowing full on, bundled in a parka and ski gloves...man, thats top down motoring, but then I was young and....!
Back in that days when I was young and broke, my TA was my daily driver. I had no top for it and couldn't afford one. No heater or sidescreens either.
Winter was fun.
Top Down, drive Monday, 68 degrees! Sorry guys, I just had to throw that in.

I love florida :) although lately it's been in the 30's and 40's at the times I can drive my MG. It's not too bad. My center console isn't in nor is the boot on shifter, so once the car warms up I atleast have a shifting hand heater!
Good deal John, good to see a member of the club got to take their car out a bit early in the season. If I had the motor complete in mine I would probably have to sneak it out just to try it.
I like driving with the top down too. In Central Cal. (except when it's raining) is is usually possible.
I got a tnnneau recently, and when it's fitted over the passenger side, it holds in what little heat comes from my woefully inadequate heater!
Good for you, if you were closer I would come take a ride too. Damn the temperature!
John,
I'm also in Ohio...and cold. I'm still jealous tho man!
Came really close on thursday. Sun was out, wind was calm and the temp was above freezing for the first time in a long time. However there is so much snow around the roads were pretty much flooded with salt water. Most likely be a few more weeks before I can pull it out of storage.
It's been nice lately here in P-town. I've been able to take the B out quite a bit. Although the heater core is shot - short drives seem to work well. That and gloves and a hat. :)
Upstate NY - Saratoga Springs area. Iit's 28 outside at the moment, although it's been in the high 30's during the day, so I've been driving my MG all week.. Damn, when IS spring supposed to get here?
Now that I'm no longer young, the top stays UP until the weather gets a little warmer. I'm such a wimp LOL
V.
