I want to replace the bolts that hold my top frame in place, however I can't seem to match anything up. The closest I can find is a 1/4 28. I think it should be a #7 metric but I can't tell. The other thing is how long of one? Is it really a bolt or should one use a pan head screw. I did discover that, with Peter Cummins help, that I have a michelotti frame. Thanks Pete!

Sam,

I am almost 100% sure it is not metric. If no one comes up with the size, I will pull one out tomorrow and let you know. The originals are pozi headed by the way.

Cheers,

Rob

Save yourself the time and aggrivation - order six new ones from Moss - inexpensive and the right size. Very simple solution to what has been a frustrating issue.

Just my opinion.

Sorry Sam that I didn't get back to you, I missed the private message until it was too late. I was out most of the day yesterday getting errands run before I start back to work today. Once I"m back to work my life sorta gets "sucked" in by the giant orange. (Home Depot). The work schedule is so varied I never know where I am. I'd order the bolts from Moss. They are a posi-drive head, but I use just a large phillips. The length is about 1 1/2" and a fine thread. My guess is 1/4 28 or 1/4 32. I think 32 because I had to match the bolts that hold the window cranks on, but a little longer, and they turned out to be a 10-32, not metric. The bolt length is typical of all the others in the car, longer than you'd normally use, for instance the two bolts that fasten the bottom bracket of the windshield center tension rod to the dash. Man you have to turn them in for what seems to be hours. The British way I guess. Don't forget to use the tonneau frame socket piece (item 47, page 104 Moss Catalogue 07). I think it makes a solid base for the top frame against the side panel. See in my pics. Without those I think the top frame might dig in and ruin your side panels.
