I had a 92 jeep wrangler that i was planning to restore, it did'nt need too much work just paint and a windshield, brakes and seats. Anyway there was a guy the next town over that was selling 88 Jaguar xjs for 1900.00. Very clean and running.Claimed he bought it for his son and the kid really did'nt like it much, he'd rather have a american muscle car.So I offered a trade to the fellow and he looked at my jeep and agreed. So now i have a 12 cylinder to go with my 4 cylinder Mgb! There is a Jag web site that i've been looking over for tech assisting. My first order of business is to find out where the leaks are comming from. The interior is musty smelling from dampness and there is water in the trunk too. Other than those things the car runs fine.

uhhh, good luck with that. I did not realize you were so rich. :)
I really like those cars, a friend of mine drove one during college and would tell me all kinds of stories about it. He still has a series 1 1/2 E type. I think t hat the HE versions have 12.5:1 compression ratios. 12.5:1!
IIRC the "book" on replacing all the little bits of rubber hose (coolant, emissions, etc) that engine uses is 16 hours.
If you think it's expensive to have work done on a Mercedes or BMW, wait until you try a V12 Jag-you-are!
The XJS coupe was one of the best looking cars of that series. Like a Brit muscle sports car.
Not really too rich - oh I get it the repair bills! I have a good friend and mechanic.. who has a xjs and xj6 and a few parts cars. I was in the thought mode of restoring the Jeep, but then this came along and my rationale was I'd rather restore a bigger version af my B! The jag only really needs a good top to bottom scrubbing and a few minor electrical issues. The bigger issue lies in the size of my one car garage - see pic!
That V12 is a fantastic engine when running right. A friend of mine has built a beautiful trike based around a Jag V12, autobox and rear axle and it goes like a rocket!
What sort of condition is the bodywork in? They have a tendency to be the favourite foodstuff of the UK tinworm, consquently a rust free one is quite a rarity.

You could always swap in a GM V8 and turbo-hydro. Several folks sell kits for that...and it makes a real nice conversion. After you get tired of wrestling with the V12, that is.
