what kind of sealer or cement do you guys use on transmission gaskets? thanks

Drake, I coat the thin ones (as in kraft paper) with some oil or chassis grease on both sides and then install. I don't use any type of adhesive sealant. I don't use anything on the O/D filter-gasket.

Get a bit of sealant break loose and get caught up in a check valve and watch that OD do weird things.

Hi, here is John Twist answer fo rthe o/d gaskets

The original compound used to seal these surfaces was a type of gasket cement. I would suggest that instead of gaskets at these locations that you: 1) surface the aluminium housings with fine paper to ensure that they are straight and smooth; 2) clean the mating surface on the brake; 3) use RTV silicone gasket sealer on the brake ring only. Do not use too much silicone -- just ensure a thin even coat. This is what we do and it works very well.
