I have just had my Weber DGV rebuilt. The car seems slugish at mid range throddle engagement. I see some small slotted brass protrusions at different places on the carb, are these to tune the carb? Is there any information on how to get the most out of this carb. So far I have only been able to attain a top speed of 85mph with weber carb, headers, oil cooler and Crane electronic ignition. The oil pressure never drops below 50. Is this the best this car will do or am I missing something?

you cam could be shot and or your compression is down. Where do you have your timing set. Some where between 10-15 degrees should give you your best preformance.
Stewart,
There are only 2 main adjustments on the DGV: idle speed (on the linkage) and idle mixture (on the body of the carb), fairly low on the engine side of the carb, near the back (closer to the firewall than the radiator). Other mixture changes are made by changing out parts (jets, emulsion tubes) so if the carb is set up for an MGB, idle, secondary engagement, and maybe choke adjustments are all you would touch.
What is the top speed for a stock Chromie B (SU's, etc) nothing fancy?
I'm not sure what the offical top speed is ,but a bone stock early MGB 66-67 (fastest years) is around 95. I have had customers tell me their stock B's would do 100-110. I find that real hard to believe,as I have a very modified B and it really grunts to tip the needel over the 100 mark. An 18oo B motor is turning right at 7k to go 110 1n 4th gear. Thats more CFM's than a stock set up can deliever. Just putting a DGV weber on an MGB will not increase HP that much. I would guess somewhere between 5-10 HP(depending greatly on the condition of the engine). The condition of the valves;cam;and compression have everything to do with the increase in HP. A weber down draft isn't a fix all for a tired motor. The advantage of the DGV over the stromberg is easy starts;better gas milage;quicker acceleration;and dependability.
Only turning arounf 4k at 85mph. She has had a compression check and is good in all cylinders. engine suposidly rebuilt prior to purchase or about 5k ago. I have parts list from rebuild and it uses no oil has good compression and oil pressure. Could it be that my motor is operating normally? And I just did not hold the accelorator down long enough? Could you give me an idea of what i should be turning at 60mph?
Somthing is amist. 4k at 85 mph is V8 specs. Your tac is off or you didn't read it right. Even an OD tranny would be turning more than 4K at 85.
OD top gives 22mph per 1000 rpm so you should be at 88 mph at 4000. Contemporary road tests say 104 -106 mph top speed for best of the B's. This with top up as it makes a 5-8 mph difference. Stock US rubber B's should do high 80's.
