In looking at photos of other people's engines, I've come to the conclusion that Im missing some hoses under the hood.
I dont have a hose attached to the breather tube on the valve cover, and the only hose going into my charcoal cannister is the one from the evaporative loss system.
Should there be a hose from the valve cover tube to the charcoal cannister? In some pictures it also looks like the valve cover tube should be connected to the carb somehow.
Am i way off here? any suggestions are much appreciated.
P.S. is it a 1977 1500 midget with a zenith stromberg carb

My post a week ago "Winter project complete" Shows the way my vent tubes are arranged as I received the car. After market valve cover was by PO also.
I would suspect all engines are vented somewhere somehow. The fumes are routed to the carb to be reburnt and to the canister when the engine is shut off.
Other cars have PCV valves the are run to the carb. Did the Spridgets ever use PCV valves?
Thanks Dave,
You wouldnt happen to have any more, hopefully close-up, pictures would you?
Wife has the camera--out of town until Thursday. Ill see what else I have.
I'll send you an email.

Yes they did !, here is the engine bay on my 67' the hose coming from the timing chain cover, then to the "disc" between the carbs... that is the pcv valve on my mine, I think they stopped with this in 68' if the diaphram ever cracked it would suck oil thru the timing chain cover/flame trap & into the intake - when I got my car the PO had disconnected because it wasn't working correctly & it would smoke out a city block if connected & you stopped hard or on a decline... the diaphram wasn't cracked (it was new) however it would help if the spring was still in there... I just bought a whole new unit & it has been fine since.
Jeremy,
Nice looking engine bay, my 948 looks very plain in comparison.
Dave
Thanks Dave, I bet your engine bay is less cluttered than mine ! & my engine bay is even pre-smog (hooray!)
