Hello everyone! It's been a while, but due to pressure from an oncoming marriage, I've been working on the car again! Yaaay!
Anyway, I got to it, and I thought I would try and get the doors put back together. I decided to order all the seals for my vent windows and install them before I did anything else. Victoria British unfortunately let me down. The T rubber pieces that go at the very top of the window channel weren't very snug, but I kept them anyway. The glazing that goes in the glass channel is fine, but I don't where to start to get the glass out. The worst thing was the seal they sent me that goes against the door itself. Mind you, one of the reasons I even ordered the seals was because of the new paint job! They sent me shabby strips of foam with holes for the bolts. It was the right profile, but nowhere near oem. One of them was broken right out of the bag. Finally, the trapezoid inner rubber wasn't trapezoid at all. It was a triangular shape, about 4 inches too tall! It must have been for a jaguar or something. It wasn't the right part. My question for you all is.. well I guess I have more than one. Where should I order the last two pieces? That's the biggest thing. The other is what should I do about the glazing? Do I have to remove the knob on the inside of the window? It doesn't look like it, but I might order new ones anyway.
Anyway I'll end with this. I remembered tonight why I left the rear bumper brackets attached to the bumper instead of the car. I guess I should say I found out. The bolts holding them to the bumper just turn. I guess the holes that hold the bolts still are stripped out. I need to order some new bolts, I suppose, because I'll be cutting them right off. I have a replacement bumper since the old one got damaged pretty bad right in the center.
Any takers?
Oh! One more random question, for the sake of asking while I'm here. The chrome slots that hold the rear of the convertible top: are there seals to go between them and the car? Apparently one of them had already dug into the metal, and the new paint job didn't cover it up. If not, I'll use left over glazing or something and make my own.

Jordan, start here. Chris Roop can get you a deal with Moss for the parts.

Vitoria British rubber is the worst stuff you can buy. It will rot before you finish the job. I like Moss although I am not sure about their rubber quality at the moment. Macgregor has some of the best. What is your choice? spend 3 times more at Macgregor and only have to do the job once. My vent seals rotted in two years, anmd the car never left the garage. You know how much work it is to take the doors apart on a finished B to do that job again. How about the rotted seal on the lock face. Pillar seals on the windscreen cracking after one year. Terrible job for some. The next time, and it is coming soon, I will pay more and hopefully will not have to do the labor intensieve job again. So much for the junk vendors.
You worry me a little. My parents ordered the complete interior kit and seal kit through VB. I have all the windscreen rubber waiting to go on, and I know that's something I don't want to do again. The weirdest thing was that the seals that go against the door weren't even rubber. They were literally some of the flimsiest rinky dink foam I've ever messed with. I plan on trying MOSS. I've always stuck with VB, but they failed me this time.
Also, Peter, I payed very close attention to the corner window pieces. They match the old pieces from my car. They're just not a snug fit. They kind of feel like they're going to fall out as soon as I roll the window up. I'll probably dab some epoxy in there for good measure.

I would use nothing but MacGregor products. I've went through the Vic Brit thing and their junk seals and rubber products. Their door seals are the worst I've ever seen! I've met Mr. MacGregor, a true gentleman and he's very meticulous about his products and is a stickler for detail concerning how his products compare to the originals. JMHO. PJ
I just removed the 2 retainers for the convert. top and there were no gaskets under them. Sounds like someone gorilla'd them down.
Thanks guys. I might get MOSS parts for price sake, but we;ll just see.
How do I get in touch with Mr. MacGregor? Thanks, John Stokes.
