I am thinking about changing out the early radiator to one I can see the coolant level in through the filler neck. Is the later rad a bolt in or are there different solutions to this? Thanks- Chuck

Hi Chuck, here is a pic of a radiator supports. The top one is pre 68 and the bottom one is for a 70. Not only are the radiators different but the support is too. Early models have the return on the Pass. side later ones on the driver side.

I forget the configuration of the early radiator fillers, but if it is offset from the tank, like many other Brit cars of the period, there might be some possibility that you could swap the top tank section for the one you want via a radiator shop. If this is not possible because of dimensional differences, they may also be able to modify your existing top tank shell to give you the access you desire. Hot rodders do these sorts of things all the time. Just a thought.
