"At what point shall we expect the approach of danger? By what means shall we fortify against it? Shall we expect some transatlantic military giant, to step the Ocean, and crush us at a blow? Never! All the armies of Europe, Asia and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest; with a Buonaparte for a commander, could not by force, take a drink from the Ohio, or make a track on the Blue Ridge, in a trial of a thousand years. At what point, then, is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide. The Collected Works of Abraham Lincoln edited by Roy P. Basler, Volume I, "Address Before the Young Men's Lyceum of Springfield, Illinois (January 27, 1838), p. 109.

Sly, your still stickin with slick Obie? I thought you were smarter then that.
Tell us when you throw in the towel. Seriously, how many lies and broken promises does it take?????
Don please spare me the "how many lies and broken promises" line, maybe ive just gotten use to it during the last decade.
Abraham Lincoln seems to indicate that we should NEVER "get used to things" and be passive, but be vigilant and challenging, yet not fight amongst ourselves, as we collectively comprise the common good of our land when we work together.
I say that it is the current Congress and leadership that is not working together with or on behalf of the People and the common good, but is working to divest and conquer as they would seek to gain and profit for themselves, then divide our own hard earned wages to those they wish to pursuade and control.
Novus ordo seclorum

"Death by suicide". Yes. But I think more accurately death by treason, racism and ignorance. A suicidal person knows they are about to die. These domestic enemies are unaware of the damage they are causing or think they are marching us to a better place
