I'm confused
The Weber DGV two barrel progressive carburetor has proven to be the most popular replacement for worn out or damaged stock carburetors and gives a good combination of performance and economy in stock engines. Kits include instructions, carburetors, manifold/adapters, linkage & air filter. Please note that there is no provision for emission connections and some modifications will be required to meet standards. A separate exhaust manifold or header is required for installation on single carb MGBs, Air filters are sold separately.

With a '74 the exhaust manifold you have will work fine. I have no idea what Arizona does for emission checks on a car built 30+ years ago.
If I was buying a DGV kit I'd call Brit-Tek. They'll talk you through it and address concerns before you even start. In fact, I did just that for a '80B.
It's a nice simple set-up.
what I was confused about is what I put in bold... that the air filters are included... but sold seperately. :)
but I'll check brit-tek on the prices just the same
Robert,
Its going to be funny in its own evil way when we stick our gas line into a gas can and the engine runs fine until the can is sucked dry...I know my tank is pretty damn rusty inside...hows yours?
.....and good catch on the moss ad....thats pretty damn funny
I haven't checked the inside of my tank really. I know the fuel comes out of the final filter at the carbs looking clean. I'm going to order the weber downdraft conversion from BritTek on the 11th when the army sends me mo money that they owe me from last year. Maybe I'll pull the pickup hose and throw it in the gas can. Lemme know what happens with yours!
Robert,
Don't buy a carb until you determine that's where the problem is. Again, I urge you to let a professional have a look at it.
I like the looks of the weber, so either way, I'll get it. Whether it get's put on, or sits in the box until this is figured out.
As for a pro... I'd have to rent a truck/trailer or have it towed to a shop.. and since there's no plates, most tow companies out here won't even touch it. I had a problem with that when I moved here across town.
I did see a listing on the net for a local shop in Costa Mesa on Pomona... You ever deal with them before Brian?
Robert,
Here is a thread from the UK BBS that pertains to the carb issue. The point is it is not SU vs. Weber, it is New/Completely Rebuilt vs. old. If you have the rest of the rebuild (pull the shafts and check them out at least) done to the SUs, they will be just as good and reliable as a new Weber and it should be a lot less than buying a new carb setup. If you still decide to get the Weber, I would be interested in your SUs. I would also like to play with your frozen distributor, too. Contact me offbbs.

I found in my search for just the carb that all of these kits come from Pierce manifolds in california. You might check them for price.
