I was thinking about how badly cracked my dashboard is for my 1975 Midget and was wondering whats is underneath the padding?

I found this link http://mgnuts.com/gallery/index.php?action=show_custom&id=533&cat=30

Has anyone stripped one of these down?

I had one that was in a burnt midget. Had the metal backing showing. So looks like the picture. I got a price one time from JustDash to have mine recovered. Price was out of my budget. Maurice

The dash is metal and is held on with four bolts along the top edge underside of the dash. If you want to remove it, start with the heater vents and clear the way for your hands to fit. Take the seats out of the car first. Once the padded dash material is removed you will find a good looking metal dash board.

You can either buy the replacement padded dash material and glue it on or do a little work on the metal and make a cool looking dash for your car.. With the padding removed you will fine the cockpit looking much more open.

Good luck,

Ron

What I have done with my Midget's dash (79) is to remove the foam and pad, use a little bondo to smooth out the welded seam and will be building a small crash pad ala my A to cover the seam.

Lee,

So you took the top piece off and left the bottom padding? If you have a pic I'd love to see it. Or you can bring it to the Sizzler if its not snowing haha
