My carpet kit from Prestige did not come with moulded wheel arch carpet. Does anyone have any tricks to get flat carpet to go over the arches. I was thinking about heating them up some how to get them to stretch.

Also, where do the little "J" or "L" pieces go?

the little 'L's go in the void between the battery carpet and the wheel arhes

I have done it a couple of times. I use the 3M spray adhesive and it gives you time to get in it place. Use your hands to stretch it out and push down the puckers, it goes pretty wel really.

John -- I emailed you a diagram of where all the carpet pieces go. Hope that helps!

John, had a similar situation with my kit... carpet kit mfg suggested using a hand held carpet steamer (a drapery or clothing steamer would probably work) to help mould the carpet.

Hmm, this is sure something I have out in the garage, a hand held carpet steamer............

Sounds like something more to build......high pressure steam boiler, maybe nuclear powered.....remote controlled nozzle.......

Hi John-

What about a regular clothes iron set on high? Put a towel or other barrier between the two so as not to burn the new material. Carpet layers use a specific iron to fit/glue seams on carpet pieces, maybe you could borrow one from a store or carpet contractor?

Sounds like it's all coming together nicely. Post some pictures if you can. Maybe the darn rain will stop soon and you can air it out a bit!

Good idea Tim! I will try to get some photos soon. I just don't have a place to host them other than Dweb.

The regular spray-adhesive usually works great, but if you have trouble getting the carpet to stick properly with 3M #77 their #90 (I think) contact adhesive works really well.

I recarpeted my TD Replica that way - after cutting the carpet to fit an area I held the carpet in place, sprayed the car/carpet together, let it sit, then smoothed it into position. The firewall was one huge piece so I did it in sections that way, has held up great so far.
