So, My wife and I have been talking about making one of the next conventions and all these Great online updates are making me even more jealous. Is it true that in 2004 it will be in NJ?

Carl, I have seen that 2004 conv. will be in NJ, but I can't find the link. That would be great for me since I'm in NY. I've been searching the NAMGBR site for details. I will let you know if I find it...

WOOHOO!!! only 346.7 miles! That is closer than going to get my son at school in Northern Maine. Alomst too close for a real adventure but hey, a good start.

3025 to NYC minus 50 or so. Even if project is complete, there's no way.
When is the next one on the left coast?

Man, why can't they hold something like that down here in the South? New Orleans would be the ideal location for ya'll to come and spend a week or two

NO on N.O., Grand Isle and everybody go Hog Wild! MG2005, Redfish, Zydeco, Shrimp, Oyster, Crab, Rice, Boudon, Gumbo, and Tabasco festivals all rolled into one. You could show the tea-totalers where the fun is, and turn the rest over to Blake. Invite every good timin' Cajun in the country too. Man, what a blow-out that would be! Unlike my usual one day stand, I'd be there a week ahead of time and be a week late leaving.

Trailer one? Hmmm. You guys are giving me bad ideas. A coast to coast run!
I've never been further east than the Corral Bar in Pinedale, WY.

That sounds even better, John. The two problems I see with that is the damned bloodsucking mosquitos and the fact that everything on the isle is so damned expensive. Last time I was down there, they were getting four bucks for a tiny 4# bag of ice! Expensive to ice drinks down at those prices and you are pretty much out in the middle of nowhere

Two birds with one stone! I'd like to see my ancestry.

You ain't been down there enough. Call it some kind of aquatic creature festival, all the Cajuns pitch in, and everything except drinks is free down there. That's why your ice cost so much, so I could enjoy all that free chow. Thanks man, it was really good.

What's in NJ worth seeing? Any country?

Jun 20, 2003 19:35:09

Us guys in fly-over country only see the dirty side of New Jersey on TV, that's where all the sh!t is and the evening news spews all the sh!t they can dig up. Yes, there is some beautiful rural country in that state, just like New York. Never make the mistake of referring to an upstate New Yorker as a common New Yorker, he'll set you stright in a New york minute.

So very true, JDW! This is God's country up here!

Chris, if you want to see your ancestory in New Orleans, that's easy. They're all buried above ground! My college room mate family was from NO, from what I can recall, (Blurry) we had a great time at several Marti Gras and Jazz Festivals.

Yep, MG2004 will be based in Parsippany, NJ. North central New Jersey, and about 40 minutes from my house. A very nice show site on a lake. Please come! I'll post the dates tomorrow or Sunday, as soon as I verify them.

The national North American MGB Register conventions are held wherever a local club gets up the energy and ambition to host one. The national organization provides a lot of support, but it really depends on a local chapter to volunteer to organize and staff it. If a southern club wants to step forward, the NAMGBR is always interested in getting the convention to different parts of the country.

MG2005 (I think) will be in Seattle, Washington.

MG2006 will be the "all MG" convention, which is held every five years. (Last one was in 2001 in St. Paul, MN.) I don't know if they have a site yet. I'll be able to tell you more in a couple days, as they'll be talking about this at the end of MG2004.

I've met a lot of upstate New Yorkers who compare their part of the state to rural western Oregon; green, uncrowded, rural.

Well, not NO, but in the south; Texas to Virginia. If I ever got on the road, it would be just as easy to go away from home as toward it.

2005 in Seattle sounds great. If true, we know Gary can make it. Me too and maybe Skye will be finished by then. Iggy, Chris, the list goes on as we will have no excuse.
