Where were You, on Jan 28, 1986???
Jan 27 - Astronauts Gus Grisson, Ed White, and Roger Chaffee were excecuting a dress rehearsal, for Apollo1.
Jan 28 - Seven astronauts: Dick Scobee, Mike Smith, El Onizuka, Ron McNair, Judy Resnik, Greg Jarvis and a teacher Christa McAuliffe, this is the flight of STS51L.

What in the world are you talking about Steve. It must be cabin fever. Fire your B up and get some air.
Jan 27 1967 - Salem Or. Gus et al suffered the consequences of an oxygen fed cabin fire.
Jan 28 1986 - Houston, Tx. Dick & crew find that solid fuel booster gas leaks and main engine hydrogen tanks don't mix.
They're all part of the great adventure.

In 1967 MG introduced it's first MKII with syncro first gear;new starter motor;high comp pistons;automatic tranny option;inverted oil filter;new distributor w/t wires coming out top;smog pump;negative ground;and six blade radiator fan.
Sorry Tom, must be cabin fever. I was only 13years old in 1967, when my Father stormed into the house, knocking me over. He picked me off the floor, his colleagues had lost their lives. He was morning the lost of his friends and the death of a very young space program that he had helped build, with "Wernher von Braun".
Yes you are correct, this is not the place to be talking about Challenger-7, the loss of seven Astronauts, in the pursuit of our nation's goals in space.
It is only my life that is effected, not yours. I hope that no one in your family is brought down in the service of their "Community, State, or Country".
I think JDW, knows how close I am to the Astronauts. Commander Robert L. Crippen is the face I see, when I remember Jan 28. Like you Tom I took the lives of the "Astronauts" for granted. Until my wife called and said something had happen to the Shuttle. I ran out of Flight Design Systems(FDS).
I ran into a frail man, he look up and it was Crippen. I knew then that the Space Program and the Astronauts, would never recover from this tragedy.
All this did was give us the opportunity to reaffirm our steadfast commitment to safety in every aspect of the Space Program.
You are correct I need to be out riding my Daughter's MGB, not thinking of the colleagues I have lost..
Thanx Harlan J.
Much too heavy for me. I was in the Navy at the time of the fire and did not take their lives for granted. That was then and this is now time to move on.
If you don't learn from History, you are dammed to repeat it..
A first grade teacher collected well known proverbs. She gave each kid in the class the first half of the proverb, and asked them to come up with the rest.
Here is what the kids came up with:
Better to be safe than....................punch a 5th grader.
Strike while the.........................bug is close.
It's always darkest before..............daylight savings time.
Never underestimate the power of............termites.
You can lead a horse to water but ...........how?
Don't bite the hand that.......................looks dirty.
No news is.........................impossible.
A miss is as good as a........................Mr.
You can't teach an old dog.....................math.
If you lie down with dogs, you.......will stink in the morning.
Love all, trust........................me.
The pen is mightier than......................the pigs.
An idle mind is......................the best way to relax.
Where there is smoke, there's..............pollution.
Happy is the bride who..................gets all the presents.
A penny saved is.........................not much.
Two is company, Three's.....................The Musketeers.
None are so blind as.....................Helen Keller.
Children should be seen and not..........spanked or grounded.
If at first you don't succeed............get new batteries.
You get out of something what you.......see pictured on the box
When the blind lead the blind.................get out of the way.
There is no fool like...........................Aunt Edie.
Laugh and the whole world laughs with you. Cry and......you
have to blow your nose.
In 1967 and 1968 I was a glimmer in my mothers eye.
If I was alive at the time, I would have worked as an MG salesmen just so I could advise customers to avoid the wire rim and automatic transmission options.
A treasure. An absolute treasure, I laughed 'till I cried.
Out of the mouth of babes............comes clabbered milk on your new shirt.
I can remember history without dragging it around like a ball and chain.
That other post should have been under lighter note.
If we have to remember , let us not forget all those Vets that simply exist inside the walls of our VA Hospitals. God now I'm depressed, again.
