I currently have a 45D4 and an 45DE4 and want to have one rebuilt. Is there any difference, other than the fact that the 45DE4 has the electronic box mounted on it? It would seem if this is the only difference then the 45D4 would be a better choice due to the ease of removal and tightening of the clamp. The 45D4 came from a Midget. The distributor will be going in a MGB.
Regardless of choice I will be installing a Pertronix unit in it.
Any help/advise appreciated.

I'd chose the 45D4 first, so you have the option of points or electronic ignition. You cannot fit points to the Opus 45DE4.
Part of the rebuild is to recurve the distributor to suit your application, so what car the distributor originally came from makes little difference. Its easy to add the vacuum advance from a 45D4 to a 45DE4 and eliminate the box on the side, since its no longer used. That way clearance issues are reduced and it looks cosmetically better.
