While driving my 73 B with a hardtop installed I noticed that if I have the window down I get a strong gas smell. If I roll up window the smell goes away almost immediatly.
Am I sucking fumes through the trunk when I open the window and "depressurize" the cockpit?
JDW- I read a saying from you about "if it burns the eyes its rich, if it burns the nose etc..." could you repeat please, Jim McKinnon could probably use that advise also.
Why do I have gas (smell)?

I haven't checked the tank for rust but there is no gas smell around the car any other time.
Thanks John, I've had a very long day and your answer was the one I was waiting for. It gave me the grin I was looking for.
