I got my Felpro exhaust manifold gaskets for the 71 gt, today. Just wondering why so many people recommend this brand. Thanks!

Felpro gaskets appear to be thicker than other gaskets. I used a grinder brush to clean the rust deposits off the manifold which prevented a good seal the 1st time I did the complete gasket job. The 71 bgt is ready to rock and roll, except for a half inch brass nut that was stripped, in the heat shield area. Tomorrow, assuming the brakes check out, the bgt will be on a nice evening drive here in the central Appalachian mountains, the capital of the "Hillbilly Nation". I hope to make it to St Louis, in early July, for the convention in the 79 roadster. I have no doubt the 79 B("Bandit") can make the long trip. I just hope I can find the time off work to get there. This is the same car that made it to Tom B's in Memphis, a couple years ago. Since then, it's been very reliable transportation. New clutch master and slave, new SU fuel pump, orignal Zenith carb...WOW! Such a nice dependable little car. Hope I have the time to make it St Louis. Cheers and Thanks to all....

If I start out in July, I''ll be fine, and should make it Nova Scotia, by early August.

plus aren't they metal on one side.. other side is something more 'kevlarish'... and has a silicone bead around outside? or is that a different kind.

Some applications have a soft bead, one of their innovations.
