I think I asked this question about a month ago, but I can't find that post......does anyone know a good source for a new windshield frame-to-top seal? I hear there are some available that are really firm, and that there is a source for a softer seal.....thanks in advance. It's finally time to install my new top!

Got mine from The B Hive for about $9, but will be awhile before I try to put it on. It's much softer than my old dried out one, but I have no other new one to compare it to.

Not withstanding all the past comments about the Moss product being too stiff, the one I purchased about 3 months ago (via Brit-tek) is working out just fine. Yes, the first clamp in was not easy, but keep in mind that if the material is too pliable, it can also be more prone to letting water leak through at highway speeds. Now that the new seal has been through several cycles of use, it buckles down easier and still keeps the water out. When you do install a new seal, check carefully to make sure it is evenly wrapped around the rear corner of the windshield frame. My thought is that a uniform amount of the seal should protrude beyond the frame, all along the width of the frame. Use your thumb to sort of "roll" out more rubber if you have spots with less rubber showing. And since the rubber will take a bit of a crease with use, it's important to get that crease in the right place during initial use.

thanks to all of you. i'm glad to hear the new seals are okay....i was worried, after spending too much on a new stay fast top, that i wouldn't get a good seal....thanks again.

Steve[/quote]I bought a windshield weatherstripping kit from brit-tek, worked out fine. Putting the windshield frame back together and in the car drove me off the deep end though,!

Dave,

Some day I need to take that project on. The rubber apron in front of the windshield is just OK, but the gasket around the glass is responsible for a couple small leaks (I think). Your comment (and others) on this project is what keeps me from starting. There must be something I need to fix on the car that is more important :).

Read your car's history; great story. We've had our 75 since 1986. Mechanically almost all new, new interior. Body is still original although the paint appears to have been re-done in places. Funny thing is that I've contacted the previous owners & none of them admit to any body work or paint. Maye a dealer touchup?

Steve
