OK - need to get some more HELP! Still good weather to drive the B with a new windshield - when it's in place!!!
So, finally got the gasket on the bottom of the windshield frame (thanks for all your help), have the frame set in "place", and even have a bolt in each side of the frame "wings that hold down the windshield. But for those pesky top bolts - can't see 'em, can't line 'em up, can't screw 'em in.....YET.
What's the trick? Do I need to take off the dash to get to 'em in or is there another MG secret trick that I need to learn? What say you? What;s been your MG Experience?
Thanks in advance for your help, again!

First, taper your bolts and run a die down them if you haven't already. I don't remember for sure what threads they are, I think 3/16-18 if so, the minor dia is 0.2970. It helps a LOT to have two blanks this size to align everything up, If the minor dia blanks fit in the holes the bolts will every time. This last part is overkill but if all else fails...
If you taper the bolts they should work in with little problem. Don't worry about the tapered bolts not holding (your only tapering, lathe/drill press, the last 1/4 right?) the bolts are long enough to pass thru the frame their holding.
I've learned to ALWAYS run a tap in and die down on fasteners that could be a problem. A little lube helps also. It's good to know what your starting with and what you've got to work with while asking for help from above and making deals with the devil 'if it'll just catch once'. Its too late for me as I've sold my soul on other repairs under the dash, Save yourself. Since you already have one in on both sides, your golden. Sleep on it. I'll bet in 10 min with a fresh start. You'll be done.
PS, the dash padding will give a little on the ends. Enough to allow you to use a large screwdriver or other tool to push the bolt in. No sense in turning a bolt if it's not all the way in to engage. Good luck
This tip is even easier than above.

Love the GM idea - checked today and they are all discontinued and no stock - junk yards have all but closed in the area, esp for 70's cars - anyone hove four spares?
14011722 Searched at GM Parts Direct...$ 2.52 Each listed
Found on Ebay too 14011722 25- $ 14.95
Parts discontinued by GM - no longer available - went to local Fastenall store and they were able to hook me up with 4 for under 4 dollars - installation tonight here I come!!!
Thanks
Clark
Whew - even with tapered bolts, getting the windshield on took a while, but now have it installed - thanks to all for your help and suggestions!
Happy motoring. Oh, and I think I'll wait for anymore changes and updates until cold weather keeps the B inside! (:P) Next project: tube shocks on the rear!

well done. honestly the MGB windscreen is a night mare. I mean it's quite doable by the amateur. But it's no walk in the park and he's an amateur who knows he's been working hard by the time he's done. There is always that "rapid breathing through clenched teeth" stage.
I think there should be a special membership category. You could put the letters W.C. after your name (Windscreen Changer). Sort of goes with the whole "as nasty as it gets" category.
I ever meet DH I'm going to ask "please explain the windscreen"
Peter,
Thanks for the note of encouragement....I kinda like belonging to the W.C. club! That has a good ring to it , especially after all the contortions I went through.....funny, my back is a bit sore today.
