MGB: Windshield woes

Been through two windshields. I have to say this is the toughest part of this restoration.

The first one I got the windshield and new seal in the frame and I cracked it as I torqued it into the frame of the car.

The next one I cracked putting it into the frame. This is killing me.

Anyway, I may be in the wrong forum, but I am looking for a windshield in the frame. Within the the putnam/Westchester County area of NY. I don't mind driving an hour or so...

Also I am not looking to pay top dollar, it doesn't have to be in excellent condition. Just have to keep the bugs out of my face.

Anybody?

Thanks in advance, Dwayne

Have you considered having a local glass shop do it? It can be frustrating... you need to be sure the screws that hold the frame together aren't hitting the glass, that's something that commonly causes a crack. You shouldn't have to twist or force the frame when its put in the car & you should have the spacers (2 per side, a block & a pad) so it's not twisted or subjected to undue stresses when you bolt it down.

If you don't come up with anything locally, let me know. I do have a spare windshield in the frame. It's been in the attic for a couple of years so I'd have to double check, but i don't think it has any cracks or delamination at the edges. It does have some light scoring from the wipers if I recall though. Shipping might be pretty high though because they're bulky & heavy (I'm in TX).

Unfortunately I am in a state of restoration and I am waiting to put the dash back in. So now I want to purchase the windshield and frame so I do'nt screw another one up.
